About congress

NOVÁ VETERINÁRIA

The largest gathering of the veterinary community in Slovakia.

The history of this event began in 1992, when it was still known as the SAVLMZ Congress and held at the House of Technology in Košice. The times called for professional education focused on the issues of companion animals and also the opportunity for pharmaceutical companies entering the market to present themselves.

The fair grew in size, and the professional program was also supported by the Slovak Hippiatric Society and the Association of Veterinary Doctors of Farm Animals. The name was changed to Veterinária, and we knew it by that name until 2003.

Between 2004 and 2008, this largest Slovak veterinary event moved to Banská Bystrica, now under the name Nová Veterinária. This was necessary due to space requirements for lecture halls and exhibition booths. In the fall of 2009, the University of Veterinary Medicine in Košice celebrated a milestone anniversary of its founding, so Nová Veterinária took a one-year hiatus.

The return in 2010 was to the new premises of the Agrokomplex in Nitra. The exhibition area of almost 2,500 m2, more than 55 registered companies, 5 lecture halls, and a total of over 780 participants was the result of last year.

Since 2017, we have returned to the concept of a professional program focusing on the practice of companion animals and the presentation of topics that are of particular interest to veterinarians specializing in companion animals. However, the exhibition section is still intended for all veterinarians.
