General Information
Banks and currency
The euro (€) is the official currency used in Slovakia.
Visa and MasterCard are accepted in most shops, restaurants, and hotels. ATMs are relatively easy to find, especially near pedestrian zones and shopping centers.
Check with your hotel when making your reservation to see if they accept traveler's checks.
Bank opening hours – Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; in shopping centers, they are usually open on weekends as well.
Weather
It can be cold, especially at night, and rain is common. October weather can be varied in the event of an Indian summer. Average temperatures 10–15 °C.
Electricity
Voltage: 220 volts, 50 Hz
Plug type: 2 holes and a grounding pin in the middle.
Drinking water
Tap water is safe to drink.
Insurance
All visitors are advised to take out travel insurance. The congress organizers are not responsible for any damage to health during the congress. The organizers of the Nová Veterinária 2025 congress reserve the right to change the program and social activities without compensation.
Shopping
General opening hours are Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Shopping centers usually have extended opening hours and are also open on Sundays.
Smoking
In Slovakia, smoking is generally prohibited in public places, offices, and restaurants and bars where food is served. At the hotel, check whether your room is a smoking room or not. Only use designated areas for smoking.
Tipping
Tipping is common practice in restaurants, bars, taxis, and hotels. In some restaurants, it may be included in the menu, otherwise it is voluntary.
Telecommunications and mobile networks
GSM networks are available in Slovakia, and you will need roaming enabled. Please consult your mobile network operator about this before departure.
